Manny Tau, Psy.D.
Manny Tau, Psy.D. is a California licensed psychologist (PSY14892) with specializations in clinical & forensic psychology. His areas of expertise involve highly specialized consultations and discreet interventions with private and public sector organizations throughout the United States, providing assessment, investigative and problem-solving oriented services to discretely resolve sensitive and delicate situations. These matters may involve incidences of inappropriate behavior with executive management or elected officials; discrimination, sexual harassment, substance abuse or other performance issues with high profile personnel; crisis debriefing and critical incident stress management when trauma strikes an individual, team or organization; and other behavioral issues related to leadership and human resources.
Dr. Tau is also an expert in assessing threats to an organization and active threat management, and has been extensively used as a workplace violence and threat management consultant for many recognized federal, state, county, city, and private organizations nationwide. He assists in the organization?s efforts to contain and actively manage potentially violent situations and implementing appropriate intervention strategies utilizing the resources of the organization, and where indicated, private security professionals for surveillance and/or executive protection and law enforcement agencies in order to minimize vulnerability to a company?s human and organizational resources. Dr. Tau also works closely with family law attorneys in providing threat assessments and actively managing domestic and stalking threats, along with providing expert testimony in the family law and civil trial courts. He provides consultation on threat assessment and active threat management issues for private individuals, companies, family law, trial, and City attorney?s, and with City, County and Federal government organizations throughout the United States.
His background includes Bachelor's degrees in Psychology and Biological Sciences, Master's and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology, and extensive clinical and forensic training and services in the private and public sectors. He has been involved in the mental health field since 1982, has over 15 years experience with the acute psychiatric and violent populations, and has a clinical private practice to complement his forensic consultation services with threat assessments and active threat management throughout the U.S. Dr. Tau currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals - San Diego Chapter, and has served on the Board of Directors for the California Psychological Association, the California Psychological Association Foundation, the Orange County Psychological Association and Laura's House Domestic Violence Shelter.
Dr. Tau has received several awards on both the state and county levels for his contributions and efforts in the profession of psychology. He is an experienced and dynamic speaker who has presented nationwide for organizations in the allied health, Human Resources and legal arenas, and has appeared in newsprint, radio, television and internet media. Dr. Tau has authored numerous articles on workplace violence and related issues, data-jacking prevention & digital confidentiality, and has assisted colleagues in authoring manuscripts for books and journal articles.
